It was the lowest scoring JMT Final since Fruitcakes beat the Dogs 8-5 in 2020 but it certainly packed some drama into those few points. The SSPA's top two went head-to-head to become the first club that does not begin with an S or a W to win the cup since Duncity last won this competition back in 2018.
Mbeumo's converted corner got Two Inces off the mark as the Bees striker moved onto 72 points for the season. Duncity offered nothing throughout Saturday with their manager complaining of injuries and some players being on the beach. Dias wrapped up a clean sheet to finish the half off nicely for the Burge at 5-0.
United came out fighting in the second half and although Aina conceded a couple of goals, Pope and Richards kept their sheets clean to restore parity at 5-5.
However, in a crazy two minutes, it began to unravel again for Coach as White lost his clean sheet and then Szoboslai's assist gave Two Inces two points while taking White to minus one. Score 7-4 to Two Inces.
Then, suddenly, it was game back on as Martinelli nodded into the bottom corner, three points in the bag for Coach while robbing Two Inces' Alisson of his clean sheet. At 7-7, it was difficult to tell which way this game was going to go. Then, then with just 11 minutes of the game to go, the Inces keeper parried out a shot nicely into the path of Merino who nodded gently into the net to win it for the Burge. Merino celebrated with two tackles to get himself sent off.
